Each Fall Season, the AHE hosts a full day workshop for area handbell choirs and directors called the "Fall Tune-Up". This workshop is designed to give your choir or ensemble the jump start it needs to get back into the ringing season! Individuals as well as handbell choirs are invited to attend.
The 2006 Fall Tune-Up was held on Sept 30th at First Baptist Church in Austin, with a registration deadline of September 18th. Four sessions throughout the day - Choose straight ringing at 3 different levels and/or specialty classes. Directors - Each level will ring its own set of music. If you want to get a head start, you can order the music listed with each level from Jeffers; be sure to bring it with your group. Remember if it's your music you can mark in it.
- Novice: New to ringing: 4 sessions just for you.
- Group A: Ringing level 1-2 music
- Group B: Ringing level 3-4 music.
Everyone attending should bring: bells, pads, gloves, mallets, music folders, paper and pen for note taking. You are encouraged to bring your own tables if possible. We will have a check-box on the registration form where you can indicate if you need AHE to supply tables for you.
This year, we continue to offer classes and ringing sessions designed for every level of ringer, from the complete novice to the advanced ringer, and everywhere in between. Participating as a group or as an individual ringer, all participants will have the opportunity to work with two clinicians. This year's clinicians are:
- Beth Watson - Director of Music at Northwest Hills United Methodist
- Bob Avant – Director of The Austin Handbell Ensemble
For 2006, the planned early registration fee is $25, with the registration fee of $30 applying to any registration forms received after the September 18th deadline.
The registration fee includes: Four Sessions of Ringing and/or Classes, class handouts, lunch, and Mini-concert by the AHE (no refunds for cancellations after Sept 25th). You can download the registration form as an Adobe Acrobat file (pdf). We look forward to seeing you at the Fall Tune-Up!
